A labor dispute can be a turbulent time for union members and their families. In order to best support our membership, we’ve gathered resources for our members to utilize in the event of a strike. If you become aware of a resource that could benefit out members that is not listed here, please contact us so we may include it.

 

LETTERS TO CREDITORS

Local 1869 has provided template letters for notifying creditors of financial hardship due to a labor dispute. These letters can be provided as paper copies and are available for download. They include:

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is dedicated to helping Union members during a labor dispute. Representatives are appointed by the International Union and are committed to helping UAW members with any issue during a labor dispute - representative will be available 24/7 for our members.

United Way of Southeast Michigan

United Way of Southeast Michigan has been serving in our communities for over 100 years. United Way strategically invests in programs that help families stay safely in their homes and put food on the table while working to improve the efficiency and efficacy the social safety net.

Providing Assistance for: Child Care, Parent & Caregiver Support, Financial Workshops, Utility Assistance, School Breakfast, and more!

 

Financial Empowerment Center of Oakland County

The Financial Empowerment Center offers guidance and assistance to residential property owners within Oakland County with deliquient mortgage payments and property taxes, including negotiating with mortgage lenders and providing housing and other resources.

They also have collected numerous resources pertaining to Domestic Violence & Food Assistance.

MACOMB COMMUNITY ACTION

Macomb County has assembled various resources for their residents including assistance with rent and utilities as well as food and travel assistance.

 

FORGOTTEN HARVEST

Forgotten Harvest is dedicated to fighting hunger and food insecurity. They publish regular listings where any community member can find food from pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
